 Chandelier earrings are huge in fashion right now! This season its all about the "statement earrings". Vogue magazine calls chandelier earrings the "look changing accessory for Spring". Big, dangly chandelier earrings don't have to be saved for special events and evenings out anymore. I love the unexpected look of  mixing casual with a bit of glam!

Put on your favorite jeans, and a pretty boho style blouse, add some ear bling...and voila...you are looking stylish!

Fall and Winter Collections 2010

For this upcoming season, I have been inspired by the designs and styles of the 1950's and 1960's era. I am working on two distinctive collections.  The first style, I call Retro Funk, and is everyday casual costume jewelry, with a 1960's Mod  look. I am incorporating  fun and unusual vintage lucite beads, with chunky brass and copper and silver beads and chain. The second one is Vintage Glam....... quite glitzy,  Hollywood inspired  but with a modern edge. Think of your Grandmothers sparkly, rhinestone jewels that have seen better days, and imagine creating a similar  new design that will work with todays fashions!  I have used rhinestones, crystals, and pearls, with some fabulous, rare, vintage findings to create some fabulous contemporary pieces that will look great over the Christmas Holiday season....and even look wonderful when worn casually with jeans. Mix it up!! 

 So once again I hope to post photos for you soon, however I still cannot upload pictures to this blog. I believe that it is due to the MAJOR trouble we are having with our  satellite internet service provider, and our speeds currently being very slow. My husband has spent countless hours talking to these people, and service does not seem to be in their vocabulary!  What happened to the good old days, when someone would come out to your home and fix your problem??? Anyhow...who knows when that will be back to normal, it is a very SLOW process! So keep checking my  Hotrocks Facebook page  for photos, as I seem to have better luck uploading images there. Pin It

Fashion Trends for Jewelry Spring 2010

Now that you know about the hottest fashion colors for Spring, you need to know what is trendy and "now", in the world of jewelry for the upcoming season! You can easily update your Spring outfit with a new necklace or bracelet. From the runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris, I have gathered some key looks for your information and enjoyment! . Ocean and sea influences will also be seen in this seasons jewelry in watery, shimmering colors, with items like shells, opals and pearls.


Bring out your femininity with soft, iridescent jewels featuring nature themes, such as flowers, and leaves in pastel shades.

Animal Prints on Safari

Animal prints are found in fashion as well as home decor. They are certainly a classic, and never seem to go out of style. Adding something to your look or to your home, in an animal print, is sexy, exotic, daring.... a little bit wild! Animal prints were all the rage on the Spring and Summer catwalks, featuring spots and stripes, and by pairing them with hot bright colors such as lime green and fuchsia, you get a very trendy look. By limiting animal prints to accessories, like scarves, handbags, shoes and jewelry and by pairing these with black, grey, camel or denim, you get a very chic, glamorous look. In your home, a few cushions, a special chair or a lovely faux print rug adds timeless style with pizzaz.
One of my favourite pair of shoes are a leopard print kitten heel by Guess, that I love to wear with jeans .Oh yes, I am a bit of a shoe-a-holic!

Closet organizing

With all this snowy weather and the fact that tomorrow my parents are arriving from England, for a visit, I have been doing a lot of spring cleaning. I have tackled our bedroom closet, and wound up with a full green garbage bag of clothes to donate to the Goodwill! More room now for new things! I really tried to stick with that rule "that if you have not worn an item of clothing in the last year, it is time to give it up". I also got rid of stained, worn T shirts, and turned them into rags for cleaning. I organized my shoes onto an old bookshelf, and an old coat stand made a great organizer for scarves, hats and belts. Then I purchased those nice sturdy wooden hangers (a great price at Ikea) and rehung all of our clothes onto them, hanging like items together and in color groups. OK, that is either the designer in me or I am just plain anal! Jeans worked best folded up on the closet shelves, and made more room for other items that had to be hung. Now it is easy to see our clothes and even easier to put an outfit together in record time. Now if only the weather would co-operate I could wear some of those nice shoes! Pin It

Spring Fashion Forcast 2009

With the weather outside being cold, and with several feet of snow covering the ground, my mind wanders to the warm days of Spring and fresh new beginnings. I know that Spring is still along ways off, however not too early to start thinking about Spring fashion and if you design jewelry, scarves, handbags etc. you need to start planning out the items you want to create...soon! So after a bit of research into Spring 2009, here's what I found out;

Jewelry- is still very big, bold, chunky and ornate, with women shopping for stand out statement pieces that are unique to update their current wardrobe. Ethnic inspired designs, and exotic rich colors are key. Over the top, and ornate pieces especially in necklaces and bracelets.

Scarves- tye dyed or dip dyed; zig zag patterns, fringes

Purses- fringes are big

Colors- nude shades (blush, pale peach, tan), faded or sunbleached vegetable dyes, bright yummy fruity colors, vibrant clear blues and greens and hot pinks, metallics, sorbet colors (lemon yellow)

Fabrics: organic cottons, hemp, bamboo, patchwork, embroidered, sheers are huge, burned out fabrics, girly prints featuring butterlies, big polka dots and florals..of course!

Styles- asymmetrical off the shoulder dresses and tops, romantic and fantasy styles, fringes everywhere, "the little white dress", jumpsuits (not sure about this one!),
