My Tropical Paradise Awaits!

Only eight more sleeps and I am off to the south Pacific island of Kauai! If you don't know by now, I am not a "winter person".  I don't embrace the cold, I am not one of those people that gets excited when it starts to snow...well, except for a few weeks in December, around Christmas time. (A  snowy white Christmas is always picture perfect!) Therefore,  as I tell my husband each year, it is good for my soul to have a few days, where I can have a  small taste of summer in the middle of old man winter! Although this winter has been extremely mild...by Canadian standards....., I am more than ready to explore the warmth of Kauai.  Having been to Maui several times, and loved it, we are now ready to have an adventure on one of the other Hawaiian islands. I always find it amazing that one can leave behind the cold, crisp winter air, step onto a plane, and within hours be able to slip on your flip flops, and be lying on a warm sandy beach listening to the waves crash onto the shore.

For ten glorious days, I will not have to think about jackets, mitts, boots or scraping ice and snow from the windshield of my car.  I love the fact that it is always so easy to pack for a tropical vacay...there is no second guessing what to bring in your suitcase, because you always know what the weather will be like...hot! There is something very therapeutic, about digging out your summer clothes from the depths of your closet ...in the middle of February! When I return, it will be almost March, and the worst of our long Canadian winter will be behind us, and I can look forward to the warmer weather......... which should arrive sometime in May!

Magical Maui

I am back, relaxed and rejuvenated from my time in Maui. A special thank you goes out to all my Entrecard readers who continued to drop in my blog while I was away. So many of you requested pictures of my trip upon my return , so rather than bore you with my stories, I will let you enjoy these images from this special island. Maui really is the best!

Aloha

I feel a little bit guilty telling you all this, but in a couple of days I am off to enjoy the sun and sandy beaches of Maui! Yes, I will be shedding my down winter jacket and boots for sleeveless tops and flip flops. Leave this frozen land of ice and snow for warm sunny days and cool ocean breezes. Ahhhh......Maui! In a couple of days, I have to squeeze this white skinned bod into a bathing suit....eeek! I love to boogie board in the warm surf, and jump the waves, and of course, "people watching", on the beach is always entertaining! I am sure we will see the humpback whales again, as they are in the warm waters giving birth at this time, and there is a lot of activity there at this time of year. So for now, I will say aloha to you all and I will be back in a couple of weeks. Pin It

Maui Dreamin"

Maui dreamin' on such a winters day! Oh is it Spring?? Sorry, you could have fooled me. As I look out my window I see a thick blanket of snow on the ground, and snow on the spruce trees that surround my home, but at least it is sunny at the moment. This morning it was snowing on and off, and I couldn't help but wish that I were back in Maui. I was fortunate enough to go to Maui for the second time in two years this past February, and I could go back a thousand more times! The perfect climate, the most beautiful beaches in the world, the flowers, the whales and the turtles, and the people are always so nice. I would live there in a heartbeat if I was an American citizen. Oh, I know its expensive to live there...but what a place to spend your life in! For me winter is now in its seventh month...that is... 7 months!!! While on my vacation there, I was inspired by the ocean, and when I returned home I designed this bracelet. Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that the southsea shell pearls that are used in this bracelet, were purchased while I was in Maui. Yep, I cannot go anywhere without trying to bring home some more beads!
